Knitwear is naturally delicate, which is part of what makes it special. With the right care, your POL knit will stay beautiful season after season.
Before Wearing
We recommend removing any jewellery or accessories that could catch on the fabric before putting your knit on.
Washing Guidelines
Always check the care label on your garment, but here are some general tips:
-
Avoid using woolwash, which can contain strong chemicals and bleaching agents that cause dyes to run. A gentle or delicates detergent is a better option.
-
Hand washing in cold water helps preserve colour, shape, and softness. You can also add a small amount of hair conditioner—natural fibres absorb it well, leaving your knit feeling softer.
-
To dry, gently roll your knit in a clean towel to remove excess water. Reshape while damp and lay flat to dry in the shade. Avoid hanging, which can cause stretching.
Storage
Knits should be folded rather than hung to help maintain their original shape.
Did you know: Pilling will occur on any knit that contains natural fibres?
Understanding and Preventing Pilling
Pilling is a normal part of wearing natural-fibre knits like cotton, merino wool, or cashmere. It occurs when shorter fibres work loose and form small balls on the surface, often in high-friction areas like underarms or where bags and jackets rub.
While it can't be prevented entirely, pilling can be minimised by:
-
Hand washing your knitwear gently instead of using a machine - machine washing can agitate the fibres in your knit.
-
Avoiding fleece-lined jackets or rough surfaces that increase friction
-
Letting your knit rest between wears to reduce stress on the fibres
-
Using a pilling shaver to carefully remove any pills—gently pull the fabric taut and run the shaver over the area to smooth it out
-
Some people prefer to dry clean their knits occasionally and air them between washes to maintain the finish

A Note on Angora
Our Angora blend is soft and luxurious, but may shed a little at first. To help reduce this:
-
Place the garment in a plastic bag and pop it in the freezer for a few hours before wearing to reduce static and shedding
-
Wash gently with a small amount of hair conditioner to smooth and soften the fibres
-
Use a lint roller just before wearing to remove loose hairs
-
Some customers choose to dry clean their Angora once early on to reduce initial shedding
We hope you love your knitwear as much as we do.
