Knitwear is delicate by nature.
It's one of the things that makes it so beautiful. With the right care, your POL knit will stay beautiful season after season.
Before Putting on your knit, we recommend removing any jewellery or accessories that could catch on the fabric.
General washing guidelines
Always check the care label on your garment, but here are some general tips:
-If your knit isn't dirty, you can always air your knitwear between wears and washes. Better for your knit, less laundry for you - it's a win/win!
- Avoid using woolwash, which can contain strong chemicals and bleaching agents that cause dyes to run. A gentle or delicates detergent is a better option.
-Hand washing in cool water helps preserve colour, shape, and softness. You can also add a small amount of hair conditioner—natural fibres absorb it well, leaving your knit feeling softer.
-To dry, gently roll your knit in a clean towel to remove excess water. Reshape while damp and lay flat to dry in the shade. Avoid hanging on the line, which can cause stretching.
Knits will stretch on a hanger - store them folded so they retain their original shape.
Did you know: Pilling can occur on any knit that contains natural fibres?
Pilling is a normal part of wearing natural-fibre knits like cotton, merino wool, or cashmere. It occurs when shorter fibres work loose and form small balls on the surface, often in high-friction areas like underarms or where bags and jackets rub.
While it can't be prevented entirely, pilling can be minimised by:
-Hand washing your knitwear gently instead of using a machine - machine washing can agitate the fibres in your knit.
-Avoiding fleece-lined jackets or rough surfaces that increase friction.
-Using a pilling shaver to carefully remove any pills—gently pull the fabric taut and run the shaver over the area to smooth it out.
-Some customers prefer to dry clean their knits occasionally and air them between laundering, to help maintain the finish.
